The Data Protection Act 1998 is being replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by May 2018. This workshop will show you the steps required to become compliant.

The protection of information in business is at this time covered by the Data Protection Act 1998, this law will be repealed to incorporate the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by May 2018. There has been some keys changes which now require businesses to change the way it gathers and uses information, it also must be able show evidence of compiling with the law.

You are accountable and you must manage the risk, if you have heard about GDPR but don’t know where or how to start this event is for you.

Outline:

During the session we will work through the steps to gather information and the information you need to hold or provide to the Information Commissioners Office, your customers or employees.

From the session you will understand:

  • the core principles
  • your rights as a consumer
  • your obligations as a business
  • what you need to do and how to do it
